Skullgirls group cosplay

H’okay, so me and a big group of friends want to (at least attempt to) gather up a Skullgirls cosplay group for Kumoricon 2013. I KNOW IT’S EARLY, HAHA, but we’re excited and it’ll take a decent amount of time to make things as QUALITY FANTASTIC as we’d like them to be.

I usually don’t post random posts about nothing, but I learned a new word today, and it got me thinking about something. 

Filial is a word meaning the relationship of parent to child. That made me wonder, is there any special meaning to the name Filia for the character in Skullgirls? It makes me wonder if her name is supposed to be sort of a reference to the relationship between her and Sampson. It makes a decent amount of sense. Sampson fights her battles for her. He lets her pursue her own goals, but he still has a certain amount of her respect, and she relies on him for combat. That said, he also holds her back in some ways by being connected to her memory loss. In a lot of ways, their relationship is a strange father-daughter one. 

It also makes sense if you consider that EVERYONE has a name that has a pun and or hidden meaning in this cast related to their personality, or who they are. 

Just food for thought.
